Almost 50 people - mainly primary and secondary school children along with some parents and teachers - enjoyed a full morning of special activities at our inaugural Dutch-language immersion day.
Held at the Box Hill Community Arts Centre - a beautiful venue! - the program included a quiz, a baking session, we learned to sing three songs in Dutch, played a game at the end of which we had figured out how to all function co-operatively as some kind of huge, Dutch-sounding machine (you had to be there!) and each and every student made an individual oral presentation on a self-selected topic of something Dutch in Australia.
Brood met vruchten hagelslag en chocolade vlokken as well as Goudse stroopwafels were made short work of at snack time (sourced from 'It's All Dutch To Me'). It's just a pity that you can't smell the speculaasjes that were baked (bottom photo) by the younger ones to take home - lekker!
